The world is becoming Vice City.
Inside Rockstar’s GTA VI campaign — from Miami’s skyline to Paris, music, magazines and the television spots now reaching a wider audience.
A rooftop sign. A fictional car advert on a real street. Jason and Lucia looking down from a tower in Paris. With launch approaching, Rockstar’s promotion has become a story of its own.
This report brings together official releases, partner announcements, photographed placements and public-document reporting available by 22 October 2026. Explore the story by theme, open the images for a closer look, or follow the timeline. Upcoming events and proposals are identified in the final chapter.
Vice City steps outside the screen.
The real city behind the fiction has become the campaign’s most recognisable setting.
The Kaseya Center is the clearest statement of intent. On 22 September, a helicopter lifted the Vice City sign onto the arena’s roof. Forbes reports a $975,000 payment to Miami-Dade County for the installation, which is scheduled to remain until 11 April 2027. That is a documented local agreement, not a disclosure of Rockstar’s total marketing budget.
The promotion extends to the arena’s surroundings and to sport. The HEAT announced A Night in Vice City for 18 November, against the Milwaukee Bucks: a themed court, a new uniform and a national ESPN broadcast on the eve of the game’s launch. As of this article’s cutoff, the announcement and promotional artwork are public; the match itself is still ahead.
Elsewhere, photographed placements at Hard Rock Stadium bring the campaign into Dolphins games. Beach chairs and umbrellas carry Vice City and VI branding, while aircraft tow banners referencing the fictional Nine1Nine nightclub. These are recognisable details from the game’s world placed into the landscape that inspired it.
Even the fictional ads are advertising.
Cars, street furniture and an airship make the campaign something people can encounter, photograph and share.
By 19 October, Wynwood’s digital kiosks were rotating advertisements for fictional businesses alongside ordinary commercial ads. Creative Bloq documents Pfister, Weazel News and The Vault. Other photographed panels include VYB, Kronos and Kowalski. The joke works because the format is familiar: the city’s real advertising infrastructure is briefly selling Vice City’s imaginary products.
The car convoy brought another layer of recognition. Vehicles styled after the Cheetah, Emerus and Coquette D10 appeared with Leonida plates, alongside a VCPD-liveried Tempesta. RockstarINTEL links subsequent filming to a permit for 305 Films and “MH Vice” social content. That points towards the HEAT promotion; it does not establish a new live-action GTA VI trailer.
The aerial campaign is separate from those shoots. RockstarINTEL documented Goodyear’s Wingfoot Three departing Ohio on 12 October with Vice City lettering and a VI logo underneath. A branded aircraft attracts its own audience before a person ever sees a conventional trailer. The towing banners add an especially direct reference to Trailer 1.
One identity. Different cities.
The outdoor rollout moves from painted walls to building wraps, buses and giant digital screens.
In Brooklyn, a hand-painted Jason and Lucia mural turns a building facade into a lasting piece of the campaign. Los Angeles has its own large installation around Hollywood Boulevard. GTANF’s photographic roundup also documents the Miami tour buses, linking the static artwork to vehicles that carry it through the city.
The Mercuriales installation at Porte de Bagnolet, near Paris, takes the same character-led approach to an entire tower. Creative Bloq highlights an important adaptation: the displayed artwork removes the guns. It is a clear example of adapting the same campaign identity for a particular public space.
The campaign archive also records Times Square screens and wrapped sightseeing buses in Chicago and New York. In Japan, PlayStation’s Tokyo Game Show presentation used a dedicated theatre for An Extended Look, with a 300-inch screen and floor haptics. It was a screening experience, not a publicly playable demo. Tokyo’s PlayStation outdoor advertising provided another regional point of contact.
From a reveal to a broadcast campaign.
The official videos remain the backbone. Their distribution has become much broader.
Rockstar’s own video archive dates Trailer 1 to 4 December 2023, Trailer 2 to 6 May 2025, An Extended Look to 27 August 2026 and the Launch Trailer to 15 October 2026. The first trailer introduced the setting and visual identity; subsequent releases gave the campaign a larger cast, more locations and new imagery to use across the official website.
The summer phase connected that attention to purchases. Take-Two’s February update said launch marketing would begin in summer. Pre-orders then opened on 25 June, following the June reveal of the editions and cover. The published offer included the Vintage Vice City Pack for qualifying early purchases and a month of GTA+ with digital pre-orders.
An Extended Look expanded the format to a 26:48 presentation, premiering on Netflix before reaching YouTube. Creator coverage and paid social placements gave the release a longer life than a single upload. The October launch trailer also introduces music from Justice, linking the story campaign to the soundtrack rollout.
The latest broadcast development is a different TV edit. On 21 October, RockstarINTEL reported a version shown during NBC’s Knicks–76ers coverage, with some shots extended and others removed, plus a shorter 60-second spot. This is a change in advertising edit and distribution, not evidence of another full reveal.
A campaign you can listen to.
Original songs, radio previews and physical records give GTA VI a presence beyond gaming media.
The music rollout began spreading through artists’ own audiences in September. iGrandTheftAuto documented Spotify billboards using GTA-styled artist artwork in New York, Los Angeles and Miami after musicians shared images on 15 September. Rockstar announced the album on 17 September.
The official music hub presents a 34-track original album scheduled for 19 November, with streaming, CD and vinyl routes. Its available singles include work by Travis Scott, Yung Lean, Cardi B, Fuerza Regida, Rauw Alejandro and Keith Richards. The site separately credits Justice with the original score, and promotes Flower in a Hurricane with Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.
The 8 October radio reveal created another entry point. Rockstar’s hub offers previews of Cocoteo, Back Country, Afro Bank FM, The Chamber, Flash FM and Dirty South Classics. The previews offer several ways into Leonida’s sound, while keeping the album, original score and in-game radio as distinct parts of the music programme.
Jason and Lucia become cover stars.
Fashion, games journalism and street art reach audiences in different ways.
Dazed placed the protagonists among the cover stars of its Autumn 2026 New Idols issue. Its own account of the October magazine launch puts GTA VI alongside musicians and fashion figures: the characters are presented as cultural personalities, not simply subjects of a game announcement.
Game Informer’s 29 September feature, Welcome to Leonida, supplies the specialist-games counterpart. LOVE’s issue 27 followed in October with another character-led cover, an interview and new screenshots. Together, the three publications give the game an unusually broad print presence: specialist reporting, fashion imagery and character-led storytelling.
In Miami, the Wynwood Walls partnership connects real artists and in-game artwork. Miami Today reports ten murals and complimentary museum admission for Miami-Dade residents with qualifying ID through 2028. The associated shop offers artist collections drawing on GTA VI. The physical art and merchandise extend the world into places people can visit, rather than relying only on a logo on a billboard.
That is the most interesting creative thread across the rollout: different media carry different parts of Leonida. Music communicates its atmosphere, the magazine covers establish its characters, and the street installations make its visual culture tangible. This is our reading of the campaign, rather than a statement of Rockstar’s internal strategy.
The campaign becomes something to keep.
Retail collections and promotional objects extend the identity into everyday life.
Rockstar’s Newswire records the 24 September launch of pre-orders for The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection, followed by the GTA VI store collection on 8 October. The collector’s package includes collaborations with Oakley and New Era; it is merchandise, not a copy of the game. The HEAT and Wynwood Walls have their own related ranges.
Creator and press packages, including branded bags and stickers, add another channel. Alongside retail products, they put the artwork into unboxing videos and social posts. The artwork continues circulating after the package itself has been opened.
A newer development requires a different label. PC Gamer’s 22 October report identifies US label filings for Pißwasser, Patriot and No Mames Vice City associated with Tripping Animals Brewing. These filings are evidence of preparation, not a confirmed nationwide launch. Rockstar had not announced a retail rollout in the sources checked for this article. Photographed bar signage and approved labels do not establish where or when the products can be bought.
Announced, proposed and still unconfirmed.
Not every item in a campaign document has already happened.
The Miami Beach agreement reported by iGrandTheftAuto describes five assets: a Vice Beach sign in Lummus Park, Muscle Beach branding, a lifeguard tower, a VI sculpture on Lincoln Road and a Y Hotel rooftop sign. The report identifies a $300,000 activation fee and a separate $4 million Boucher Brothers arrangement. Permits and, for the hotel, a private agreement remain relevant conditions. This article does not treat the renderings as photographs of completed installations.
Downtown Miami also has a separate banner programme. The commission agenda sets an event window beginning 15 October, a maximum of 56 consecutive days and a 31 December end date, with individual city approvals. Reports that quote a proposed number of banners should not be read as a count of completed installations.
County proposals are another matter. Airport, PortMiami and transit ideas prompted public objections, including a 3 September statement from Commissioner Juan Carlos Bermudez and Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz. Reports of an October 20 vote concern authority to negotiate. We could not establish a final executed airport or transit agreement from the sources reviewed by the cutoff, so an airport takeover is not counted as completed.
The November calendar already extends beyond release. The HEAT event is scheduled for 18 November, followed by the game and album on 19 November. Michaël Brun has announced a free BAYO tenth-anniversary show in Little Haiti for 22 November, with tickets supported by Rockstar. These remain upcoming events in a report dated 22 October.
A reported Discord promotion, speculation about a Hotel Figueroa mural and theories about another live-action trailer belong outside the confirmed rollout. Likewise, the frequently repeated $150 million–$500 million budget figures are not a published worldwide campaign total from Rockstar. Local contract values cannot simply be added to estimates and called an official budget.

Dates refer to publication or documented appearances. Month-only entries do not imply an exact installation date.
